About GitHub Copilot
GitHub Copilot was the first AI coding assistant most developers used, and it is still the most widely available. It works inside VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode and on github.com, suggesting code as you type and answering questions about your codebase in chat.
Agent mode lets Copilot make changes across several files in your editor, and the cloud coding agent (on paid plans) can take a GitHub issue, work on it in the background and open a pull request for you to review. You can choose between models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and others.
The free plan includes 2,000 code completions a month and limited chat and agent use. Pro costs $10 per month with unlimited completions; Pro+ and Max add a larger monthly allowance of AI credits for heavier agent and premium-model use. Business and Enterprise plans add admin controls, policy management and usage limits for organisations.
