T-Mobile: Sidekick Data Gone for Good

T-Mobile today apologized to its Sidekick customers for recent Sidekick data service disruption. The company said that Microsoft/Danger are working on maintaining platform stability and restoring all services for Sidekick customers. However, regrettably based on Microsoft/Danger’s latest recovery assessment of their systems, we must now inform you that personal information stored on your device – such as contacts, calendar entries, to-do lists or photos – that is no longer on your Sidekick almost certainly has been lost as a result of a server failure at Microsoft/Danger.

T-Mobile also advised Sidekick customers to NOT reset their device by removing the battery or letting their battery drain completely till the server problems are solved, as any personal content that currently resides on your Sidekick will be lost. T-Mobile will provide more information on Monday October 12 about the status of the remaining issues caused by the service disruption.

This is bad news for Sidekick customers no company should lose data in today’s world. And what Microsoft doesn’t have backup servers to preserve customer data in case of a failure like this.
