Canon Officially Unveils 5D Mark II Digital SLR

Well, after many rumors and Canon’s SLR teaser website (which now shows the complete camera), the company finally announced their successor to 5D today. The new Canon EOS 5D Mark II is based on 21-megapixel full frame CMOS sensor and features 1080p video mode. The specifications for the new camera include new 14-bit Digic IV image processor, 3-inch 920,000 high resolution LCD screen, UDMA memory card support, integrated cleaning system, 3.9 fps continuous shooting, ISO range of 100 to 6400, 9-point auto focus and 6-point assist auto focus.
On the software side canon has improved menu system including Quick Control Screen for more direct access to common settings. The camera also utilizes detailed EF lens information for optimization of JPEG images and automatic peripheral illumination correction. The body of the camera is made with magnesium alloy with additional environmental protection. The 5D Mark II will ship in November 2008 for $2699.
