Today, Samsung and HTC introduced two new Android handsets. Samsung launched i5700 Galaxy Lite – a smaller sibling of i7500 Galaxy that Samsung announced last month. The new handset features smaller AMOLED touchscreen, lower 3.2-megapixel camera and just 1GB of on-board storage. The i5700 Galaxy Lite will come with Bluetooth, A-GPS and microSD card slot. No word yet on price or availability. We have added a video below showing the Galaxy Lite in action.

The second Android handset that was announced today is HTC Tattoo. As you might have guessed it is named Tattoo because customers can design and purchase their own unique covers or search and select from popular cover designs. The Tattoo comes with 2.8-inch 240 x 320 touchscreen, 3.2-megapixel camera, dual band HSPA (900/2100), 768MB of on-board memory (RAM + ROM), WiFi b/g, Bluetooth, GPS and microSD card slot. The battery life on HTC Tattoo is 342 of talk time and 520 minutes of standby. The phone measures 4.17” x 2.17” x 0.55” and weighs 3.8 ounces. The HTC Tattoo will be available in Europe in October, no word on price yet.

After including above two handsets, a total of five new Android handsets have been officially launched this year. So will the Android handset count reach the 20 new handsets mark in 2009 that was announced by Google earlier this year?
