Apple will be releasing the iOS 4.1 update this week bringing many new features and bug fixes. With the number of features that Apple will be adding to the iOS in next two updates they could have easily called it iOS 5, but it will be iOS 4.1 and 4.2 updates. The first update iOS 4.1 will have two major bug fixes the proximity sensor bug and the Bluetooth bug. The proximity sensor has been causing lot of trouble to many iPhone 4 users and the iOS 4.1 GM that was released to the developers resolves the problem.

9to5mac has posted complete walkthrough on iOS 4.1 highlighting new features. The mains features on iOS 4.1 include:

  • Enhanced Bluetooth AVRCP audio playback
  • Game Center with social gaming network and multiplayer support
  • HD video (720p) uploading over WiFi
  • HDR (High Dynamic Range) Photography taking iPhone camera to next level
  • Email based FaceTime and FaceTime in iPhone favorites
  • $0.99 TV show rentals and Ping support in iTunes
  • AT&T carrier setting version 8.0 which should improve network reception

Also, Macdailynews has posted some photos comparing normal iPhone photos to HDR photos take by iPhone. And the images clearly show the difference. We believe by adding HDR function to iPhone camera Apple has leaped ahead of competition without adding meaningless camera features. Check out 9to5mac for complete walkthrough and Macdailynews for HDR photo comparison.
