iPhone 5 Parts Leaked and Carriers Preparing for September Announcement and October Shipment

Images showing the new black and white headphone jacks and camera lens assembly for iPhone 5 have been leaked. Apple has always used different color headphone jacks to maintain color consistency for white and black iPhone models. And the leak of both the white and black headphone jacks at the same time would hint at simultaneous launch for both iPhone 5 models. Similar parts leak happened before iPhone 4 was launched, but the parts were of only black color at that time, and as we all know white iPhone 4 was delayed by almost 9 months.

Also both the camera lens and headphone jack along with sensor flex cable have completely different design when compared to current iPhone 4 parts, indicating that the iPhone 5 will see a major redesign and won’t be an upgraded iPhone 4 with A5 processor.

These leaked images of iPhone 5 parts are a sign that iPhone 5 launch is imminent and the recent developments at various European carriers is adding weight to this news. Engadget and MacRumor readers have noted that Telefonica in Spain and O2 in UK have started preparing for iPhone 5 launch. Stating August 22nd, Telefonica will begin scaling back its current iPhone stock through September 12 to clear out inventory before iPhone 5 launch. Similarly, O2 has sent notice to its retail stores saying:

The following is to advise that we are removing the old iPhone unitary (display items) between the 22nd August and the 12th September. This is a 3 week programme which will see all iPhone unitary swapped out for new iPhone unitary, and will of course prepare us for the launch of the new smart phone.

Both these carriers have very similar schedule for preparation of iPhone 5 launch indicating that September 12th or 13th might be the D-day. Also, 9to5mac is reporting that they have heard from reliable sources, “Apple has been weighing between launching the new iPhone on October 7th or October 14th”. According to the website, Apple is currently aiming for October 7th launch date with pre-orders starting on Thursday, September 29th or Friday, September 30th.

All this recent news points to a September iPhone 5 announcement (maybe 12 or 13) with pre-orders starting by end of September and official launch on October 7th.
