The Wall Street Journal is reporting that HP is working on an array of touchscreen products, including notebooks. The company plans to get touch-enabled notebook computers on the market within next 18 months.
“We’re focused on recognizing the potential of touch now,” said Phil McKinney, the chief technology officer for the company’s laptop-making Personal System Group. “We see touch as the almost preferred method for nontechnical users.”
Touchscreen wasn’t getting any traction among users, before iPhone was launched last year. Apple’s little device developed world’s appetite for touchscreens with its multitouch implementations. According to iSuppli, touchscreen devices will more than double by 2013. HP like many other companies wants to be part of the touchscreen revolution that Apple ignited.
