RIM today announced a new addition to the BlackBerry Curve series of smartphones – the Curve 8520 will be available on T-Mobile in USA, and on Vodafone in UK starting August 5th. RIM says that the new slim Curve 8520 is aimed at people who like to be connected, it provides easy mobile access to email, messaging and popular social networking websites. Even though RIM is aiming for people who like to be connected the Curve 8520 doesn’t feature 3G network support, it depends on 2.5G EDGE network for data.

Hardware features on Curve 8520 include 320 x 240 LCD display, 2-megapixel camera with video recording, full QWERTY keypad, quad-band GSM/EDGE, 256MB flash memory, 3.5mm headset jack, WiFi, Bluetooth and microSD card slot. Battery life on the phone will be 4.5 hours talk time and 17 days standby. The Curve 8520 introduces an innovative touch-sensitive optical trackpad, which should make scrolling and selection smooth and easy.

BlackBerry Curve 8520 will be available for free on Vodafone in UK with a contract and monthly plan of £25 or more. T-Mobile USA has yet not released pricing information for the phone.
