There have been number of rumors going around about the launch of much awaited Apple’s tablet type device. Financial Times today added its two cents to the rumor mill. The news website published that Apple is racing to offer a portable, full-featured tablet-sized computer in time for the Christmas shopping season.

According to FT, the new device will have up to 10-inch screen and capability to access Apple’s online App Store. One entertainment executive said, “It’s going to be fabulous for watching movies.” And book publishers are hoping that their services will be offered on the new device, which would be ideal for reading.

Apple is also working with big four record labels on a project codenamed “Cocktail”, which would make album purchases more compelling by adding interactive materials like photos, lyric sheets, liner notes. The consumer will be able to play songs directly from the interactive material and they will be able to click through to find most interesting items.

Apple is planning to launch the service in September and it is likely that they will announce the Apple tablet around the same time.
