Apple introduced the new iPad, a tablet like device in January and will start shipping the device on April 3rd. Since Apple announced the iPad, opinions about the device have been polar opposite. Some are calling it revolutionary and future of computing, while others are calling it just a big iPod touch, even though most of them haven’t touched the iPad.

Hardware specifications of the iPad are 9.7-inch LED backlit mulitouch display, 1GHz Apple A4 processor, up to 64GB storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, optional 3G + GPS, Accelerometer and Ambient light sensor. It measures 9.56” x 7.47” x 0.5” and weighs 1.5 pounds. Battery life on the iPad is 10 hours of surfing web, watching video, or listening to music. The WiFi only iPad models are priced $499 for 16GB, $599 for 32GB and $699 for 64GB. The Wi-Fi + 3G models are priced $629 for 16GB, $729 for 32GB and $829 for 64GB.

Though the opinions about the iPad have been polar opposite, but if the reviews of the device are any indication Apple has another hit product on their hand after iPod and iPhone. Most reviewers agree that Apple has nailed the design and iPad is one of the best tablet like device ever made.

David Pogue of NY Times wrote in his review “The iPad is not a laptop. It’s not nearly as good for creating stuff. On the other hand, it’s infinitely more convenient for consuming it – books, music, video, photos, Web, e-mail and so on. For most people, manipulating these digital materials directly by touching them is a completely new experience – and a deeply satisfying one. The bottom line is that the iPad has been designed and built by a bunch of perfectionists. If you like the concept, you’ll love the machine.”
