TUAW has posted that according to the code found in the latest beta firmware 2.0 released by Apple for developers, Apple is working on a new iPhone application called iControl. It will allow the iPhone to control and stream media from local iTunes libraries. Apple uses the media-streaming feature in existing products like the Apple TV and Airport Express. Apple has also applied for patents on concepts of remotely controlling iTunes and streaming of media from iTunes to portable device, so adding iControl seems a natural step. It’s been rumored that Apple would add few new applications to the upcoming firmware 2.0 update and iControl might be the first of those applications.
