Amazon Digital Music Sales Expanding but Not At iTunes ExpenseSubmitted by lalit on April 15, 2008 - 2:26pm.
There has been lot of talk lately about Amazon MP3 Download gaining market share at iTunes Expense as it has support for DRM free songs from all four major record labels. NPD in its latest report said that only 10% of Amazon MP3 customers surveyed in February had previously purchased music through iTunes. “The fact that Amazon’s early growth does not appear to be at the expense of Apple iTunes is a healthy indication that the digital music customers pool can expand into new consumer groups who have not yet joined the iTunes community,” said Russ Crupnick a Analyst with NPD. I think it is also an indication for the record labels that they should start DRM free support for iTunes also and supporting few other music services won’t bring down iTunes.
