Hasselblad Announces H3DII-50, The 50-Megapixel Camera

Hasselblad, the high-end camera maker known for their very high pixel count (like the old 39-megapixel H3D) has launched their latest 50-megapixel beast H3DII-50. The camera uses a 36mm x 48mm Kodak sensor that is twice the size of the sensor normally found in other full frame DLSR. At full 50-megappixel resolution the camera generates a 300MB image file at 1 Frame per second rate. The camera supports ISO 50 to ISO 400 and ISO 800 with Hasselblad’s Phocus software. The H3DII-50 will also support full range of Hasselblad lenses. Though Hasselblad has not announced the price of the new camera, but you can guess the prices, as the company on its website states that you can upgrade your H3DII-39 to the new H3DII-50 at a cost equal to the difference in list price. The list price of H3DII-39 is $37,000, so H3DII-50 will be greater than that for sure. The camera will ship in October 2008 and you can get more information here
