According to a study done by SquareTrade, iPhone is twice as reliable as the BlackBerry after one year of ownership. In the study, SquareTrade looked at failure rates of 15,000 devices covered under extra warranty plans sold by the company. Only 5.6 percent of iPhones malfunctioned after one year, compare 11.2 percent BlackBerry and 16.2 percent Palm. According to SquareTrade, the most likely cause of iPhone failures was accidental damage done by drops, spills and other accidents. One of the surprise finding of the study was that iPhone had least amount of battery problem. Overall, both hardware and software-wise iPhone performed better than the other two device makers.
