It has been rumored that the upcoming iPad 3 will see some major redesign with higher resolution screen, quad-core A6 processor and bigger battery. And the photos of leaked iPad 3 components posted by Macotakara support this theory. Macotakara got their hands on the replacement parts for iPad 3, which included dock connector cable and port, microphone flex cable and power on/off flex cable.

As you can see in the image above the 30-pin dock connector remains the same, but there is change in flex cable design for the dock connector. It was previously rumored that Apple will introduce a smaller dock connector in next generation iPad, but it looks like those rumors were wrong.

The power on/off flex cable that includes the power button, rotation lock button, volume button and connection for menu button is smaller than the one found in iPad 2. The microphone flex cable (image below) has also been redesigned when compared to the one on iPad 2.

The changes in various flex cable designs indicate that the iPad 3 will see some major redesign internally and we should expect to see some big changes in upcoming iPad 3.
