Google Advertises Chrome Web Browser on Its Home PageSubmitted by lalit on December 27, 2009 - 11:30am.
Google has added Chrome advertisement on their home page suggesting viewers to download and install Google Chrome “A faster way to browse the web”. Google never puts an advertisement on their home page and hence this has become such a big news that every blog is talking about it. Their home page has always been about just search. Many blogs are criticizing this move by Google, for example, CNET’s Chris Matyszczyk writes “The folks at the Silicon Alley Insider alerted me to this startlingly commercial ad on the Google home page. It can’t be, I thought. So I went to Google.com myself and there it still was: a dry little thing in the right-hand corner suggesting that I should download Google Chrome.” We seriously don’t understand what was so shocking for Chris. Google home page is Google’s property, and they can use it as they wish, until it actually creates problems for their users. I didn’t see any change in page load time or speed at which Google generated search results, so why is everyone so critical about this move by Google.
