iPhone The Top Selling Handset in US for 2009

iPhone was ranked first in the recently released cellphone sales data for 2009 published by Nielsen. According to the data, iPhone had 4 percent market share followed by BlackBerry 8300 series with 3.7 percent market share in second place. Motorola RAZR V3 was ranked third (2.3%), LG VX9100 was ranked fourth with 2.1 percent and LG Voyager was ranked fifth with 1.7 percent.

Along with the top 10 handsets, Nielsen also released data for top 10 websites visited on mobile phone, top 10 brands accessed over mobile phone and top 10 video channels accessed on mobile phone for January to September 2009 in US.  Google was the major winner in all three categories followed by Yahoo. Nielsen posted on their website “The iPhone and various Blackberry handhelds dominated the mobile device market, while Google, Yahoo! and YouTube led the way as far as most accessed sites and brands on the mobile web.” You can see the list of all four categories on Nielsenwire's website.
