Sony New Zealand has posted a teaser website stating “On the 9th January you will change the way you look at laptops Forever.” The website has a day counter and an option to win the revolutionary new VAIO. Sony and Apple are the only two notebook makers out of the top ten, who haven’t joined the netbook race yet. So it is obvious that one would assume the teaser is for netbook launch.
CES 2009 will start on 8th January and Sony’s CEO Sir Howard Stringer will give a Keynote Address at the Expo. It is very likely that the new VAIO product will we announced at that keynote. Some blogs are speculating that the teaser website is for a new display technology, but we don’t believe that. Sony has announced last quarter that it will enter the netbook market in Q1 2009 with a product that will differentiate VAIO netbooks from the other available on the market. And, there can’t be a better venue than CES to launch a new product lineup for first quarter of the year.
