Even with continuous growth of Android in smartphone market, Google’s tablet efforts have been a big flop. Most of its manufacturing partners are selling tablets at loss to bring the stockpile of inventory down. However, Google’s Chairman Eric Schmidt told Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sea that “In the next six months we plan to market a tablet of the highest quality”. Indicating that Google will promote a tablet lineup like they promote the Nexus smartphone lineup.

Schmidt didn’t provide any other details about the upcoming Google marketed tablet, except calling it the highest quality tablet. Schmidt is known for his hyperbolic comment and so we should take these comments about the upcoming tablet with slight grain of salt. Yes, we believe that Google will market a tablet like they do with Nexus smartphones, but we think that the new Google tablet will be more like the latest Galaxy Nexus smartphone, highlighting the Android software more than the latest hardware innovation.
