Wired is reporting that an Apple corporate employee contacted them with information about Apple’s plan to upgrade its Mac mini desktop lineup.  The source didn’t disclose any details about the upcoming Mac mini specifications, but said that Mac mini update is coming at Macworld Expo in January.
According to Wired, the new Mac mini will have all aluminum enclosure, PVC-free green parts, DisplayPort video output, Super Drive, 2 GB RAM, at least 160GB hard drive, 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo processor with Intel GMA X3100 graphics for low end mini and 2.3GHz processor with NVIDIA graphics for higher-end mini. Apple will price the lower end model for about $500 and the higher end model will cost  $700.
Wired further adds that other sources have also confirmed Apple’s plan to launch the new Mac Mini at Macworld, but it wouldn’t be the star product of the show. Our sources have told us that if Apple releases new Mac mini models they all will feature NVIDIA graphics. Macworld is just three weeks away and we will get more information before the Expo starts on 5th January.
