Samsung today announced their new Series 5 Ultrabooks lineup that will offer 13-inch and 14-inch laptop models. The 13-inch model is a regular ultrabook that comes with Intel Core i3 and i5 processor, up to 500 GB hard drive, optional 128GB SSD, up to 8GB RAM, integrated Intel graphics, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB, HDMI and Ethernet. The aluminum encased laptop is 14.9mm (0.58-inch) thick and weigh 3.1 pounds. The second 14-inch Series 5 laptop is the interesting one, as it comes with option of optical drive making it 20.0mm (0.82-inch) thick like a regular laptop, but Samsung is calling it an ultrabook. The laptop also weighs about 4 pounds with optical drive making it heavier that ultrabooks. The laptop features Core i3 and i5 processors, up to 8GB memory, up to 1TB hard drive, optional SSD, WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI and Ethernet. Samsung will ship the new Series 5 ultrabooks in Korea by end of December with a starting price of 1,290,000 won ($1,125) for 13-inch model and 1,340,000 won ($1,170) for 14-inch model. Shipment to other countries will start in early 2012.
