Alienware Announces Area-51 X-58 and ALX X-58 Gaming Desktops with Core i7 Processors

Alienware has also jumped on Core i7 bandwagon with their new Area-51 X-58 and ALX X-58 gaming desktops. The X-58 is available with 2.66GHz Core i7-920 processor as base configuration with option of upgrading to 2.93GHz Core i7-940 or 3.2GHz Core i7-965. The ALX X-58 comes with 2.93GHz Core i7-940 base processor with option of upgrading to 3.2GHz Core i7-965 Extreme processor.
Both the systems have multiple graphics card options ranging from single 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT to Dual 2GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon HD 470 X2 CrossFireX setup. They will come with 3GB Triple channel DDR3 SDRAM, which can be upgraded to 12GB for around $350. The base hard drive configuration for X-58 is 250GB SATA 7200 RPM drive, where as the ALX X-58 will come with two 500GB hard drive in RAID 0 setup. DVD burner and high-definition 7.1 performance Audio is standard on both the desktops.
The new Area-51 desktops are available now on Alienware’s website. The Area-51 X-58 has a starting price of $1,649 where as the Area-51 ALX X-58 starts at $3,699.
