Consumer Reports Ranks New MacBook Air Models As Best In their Class

Both the new 11-inch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Air, which Apple introduced in October, have received positive reviews. Both the laptops are being called the perfect balance of performance, portability and design for everyday use. The 11-inch MacBook Air model is the lightest laptop available on market and the 13-inch model isn’t far behind, as it’s one of the lightest 13-inch laptop on the market. And now consumer advocacy group, Consumer Reports has also chimed in by calling both the laptops best in their respective classes.

In Consumer Reports’ review the 11-inch MacBook Air scored 67 points out of 100 passing the previous leader for the category Toshiba Satellite, which had 51 points. According to Consumer Reports, the mini-notebook category that 11-inch Air topped is in between full-fledged notebook and netbooks. The 13-inch MacBook Air topped the notebook category with 78 points beating Toshiba Portege (76 points).

In the reviews, Consumer Reports liked the performance, display and ergonomics of both the MacBook Air models, but called the versatility of both the models “fair”, as they don’t have optical disk drive and user replaceable memory.
