High-end audio equipment maker Bowers & Wilkins has announced its first ever headphone. The new P5 Mobile Hi-Fi Headphone is designed to bring the listener as close as possible to the sound intended by the recording engineers. Bowers & Wilkins’ 45 years of audio experience has gone into the P5 to offer premium quality sound.

The P5 uses specially developed ultra-linear neodymium magnets and highly optimized Mylar diaphragms providing best possible sound for listening over extended periods. The headphones don’t feature full electronic noise cancellation, but Bowers & Wilkins designed and used construction technique aimed at isolating as much noise as possible. The noise isolation is achieved through a combination of the closed-back design featuring a rigid metal faceplate, and the sealed-leather ear pads.

The P5 headphones comes with a Made For iPod approved cable, which allows for speech and device control. It also comes supplied with a high-quality, standard audio cable with gold-plated plugs. Switching between the two is facilitated by the magnetically attached ear pads, which simply pop off allowing access to the cable.

Bowers & Wilkins P5 Mobile Hi-Fi Headphone will ship in January 2010 and no word on price yet. You can get more information about the headphones on Bowers & Wilkins website.
