MOTO Development Group Develops Reference Design For OLED Tablets

MOTO Development Group has developed customizable Android 2.0 platform for MID, Data Terminal and Tablet. According to MOTO, the Android Media Platform (AMP) is a flexible and full-featured reference platform designed to help customers reduce time to market for their products. MOTO is working on three devices in AMP family, starting with a device with 5-inch screen that can be used as portable media player, portable navigation device and portable data terminal.

The 5-inch AMP device specification are ready for manufacturing and it comes with 5-inch OLED or LCD screen, OMAP3430 processor, 256MB of RAM and ROM, 8-megapixel front camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, optional 3G, accelerometers, 2D Gyro and compass. The capacitive multitouch devices can output 720p video via HDMI and it supports both Android 2.0 and Linux 2.6.27.

The other two device specifications feature 3.5-inch and 10.4-inch screens and are still in development. The device with 3.5-inch screen will come with OMAP3630 processor, OLED or LCD screen, 512MB of RAM and ROM, 3-megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, optional 3G, accelerometers, 2D Gyro and compass. The 10-inch model will have OMAP4x processor, OLED or LCD screen, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 2GB NAND storage, 3-megapixel camera in front, 8-megapixel camera on the back, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, FM and GPS. Both the multitouch devices are still in development and should come with Android OS version that will be available in 2010.
