Microsoft has started next phase of their $300 million ad campaign by putting a kiosk near Apple Store in Birmingham, UK. The kiosk lets users record their own “I’m a PC” video for contribution to the ad campaign. Microsoft says that this phase of campaign will use videos uploaded by customers rather than paid professional spokespeople.
Microsoft started the $300 million ad campaign to improve Vista’s image and to counter Apple’s “I’m a PC” and “I’m a Mac” ad campaign. The first three phases of the campaign haven’t been great. Basically the ads till now have neither been funny nor to the point (improving Vista’s image).  On the other hand, Apple did a fine job of ridiculing Microsoft’s ad campaigns when they released 3 ads advising Microsoft to pay more attention to Vista’s development and not waste money on ads.
With its own ad campaign falling flat on its face, the only thing left for Microsoft was to go for guerilla tactics and start an “I’m a PC” kiosk in front of Apple Store. This tactic only shows how desperate Microsoft is and it won’t affect Apple in anyway.
