Google Launches Free Turn-by-Turn Navigation App for Android 2.0Submitted by lalit on October 28, 2009 - 12:06pm.
Google today launched updated Maps software for Android 2.0 that includes free beta turn-by-turn navigation. The navigation software provides voice commands, integration with satellite and street view and various point-of-interest. You can save select addresses as icons on Android home screen and use them directly for turn-by-turn navigation. Also to negate break in 3G data coverage while you are driving, the software caches maps and visual data for the selected route. The turn-by-turn navigation will be available on Motorola Droid as a beta feature. When using the navigation software along with car dock for Motorola Droid the user interface changes, so that you can use it at an arm’s length away. The icons become larger and a voice search option takes control. Google says that this feature is hardware depended and hence it might not run of older hardware. The turn-by-turn navigation app only works on Android 2.0 OS and the one phone Motorola Droid that will come with Android 2.0 will ship in November. Watch Google Navigation app in action below.
