Nokia officially unveiled their first Windows Phone operating system based smartphones today at Nokia World 2011 special event in London. Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 will be the first two Windows Phone based smartphones from Nokia. The Lumia 800 is very similar to Nokia N9 smartphone that was launched earlier this year. Like the N9, the Lumia 800 is also sculpted from 0.48-inch thick piece of durable polycarbonate plastic with tapered edges that make it look and feel thinner than it actually is. The handset comes with single-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon processor, 3.7-inch ClearBlack AMOLED screen, 512MB RAM, 16GB on board memory, 8-megapixel camera, F2.2 wide aperture Carl Zeiss lens, WiFi and Bluetooth. Nokia claims that with a F2.2 lens Lumia 800 has one of the best smartphone cameras on the market.
The Lumia 710 is relatively cheaper cousin of Lumia 800 with 3.7-inch ClearBlack LCD screen in place of AMOLED screen and 5-megpaixel camera with f2.4 aperture in place of 8-megapixel camera. Other features of Lumia 710 are single-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon processor, 512MB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, WiFi, Bluetooth and microSD card slot that’s missing on Lumia 800. The Lumia 800 will be available in black, magenta and cyan colors priced Euro 420 ($585). Nokia will ship the handset in France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and UK starting in November, and will roll out in Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan by end of this year. Nokia will ship the Lumia 710 in Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan by end of this year and will bring it to the rest of the world in first half of 2012. The Lumia 710 will be priced Euro 270 ($375) and it will come in “stealthy black” and “crisp white” colors with changeable back plates.
