NY Times Executive Talks About Apple Slate and New SIM Tray Design Hints at Upcoming Apple DeviceSubmitted by lalit on October 26, 2009 - 10:25am.
New York Times’ Executive Editor, Bill Keller, accidentally talked about upcoming Apple tablet at the NY Times’ Internal Neiman Journalism Lab. He was talking about future of print media and he said: “I’m hoping we can get the newsroom more actively involved in the challenge of delivering our best journalism in the form of Times Reader, iPhone apps, WAP or the impending Apple slate, or whatever comes after that…” It has been rumored that Apple is in talks with major print media outlets to get their content on iTunes for use on Apple Tablet or Apple slate. I have to say ‘Slate’ sounds better than tablet. Also in Apple tablet related news, ChinaOnTrade is selling a SIM tray that it claims is for use with fourth-gen iPhone or iTablet. The new SIM tray is bigger than the one used for iPhone 3G/3GS, it also has metal frame and smaller extract hole indicating a new extraction mechanism. Our sources say that 4th generation iPhone is not coming before second quarter of 2010. However, they add that this SIM tray can be used in upcoming Apple tablet/slate or some totally new device (maybe a new iPhone model). They also said that Apple is almost ready to launch the new Apple tablet and the product is just waiting for a final green signal from Steve Jobs. We have added video of Bill Keller talking about Apple Slate below. He talks about the device at 8:25 in the clip.
