AT&T Introduces Five New Android Handsets Including Motorola Atrix 2

AT&T has announced that it is adding five new Android handsets to its smartphone lineup bringing the total number of Android handsets on the carrier to 19 for 2011. The five handsets announced by AT&T are Motorola Atrix 2, Samsung Captivate Glide, AT&T Avail, Pantech Pocket and Samsung DoubleTime.

The Motorola Atrix 2 is an upgrade to the original Atrix and features bigger 4.3-inch display (960 x 540), 8-megpixel camera, 4G (HSPA+) support and 1080p video recording. Other features are similar to previous generation Atrix. The Motorola Atrix 2 will be available in AT&T stores starting October 16 priced $99.99 with 2-year contract.

The Samsung Captivate Glide features slide-out QWERTY keyboard with 4-inch (800 x 480) Super AMOLED touchscreen. The handset comes with 1 GHz NVIDIA dual core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, 8-megapixel back camera, 1-megapixel front camera, 1080p video recording, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and microSD card slot. The handset will ship in time for holiday season, but no word on pricing yet.

The Samsung DoubleTime features dual touchscreens with a full flip QWERTY keyboard. The Android 2.2 handset comes with dual 3.2-inch (480 x 320) touch screen, 600MHz Qualcomm processor, 260MB of onboard memory, 3.2-megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth and microSD card slot. No word on pricing or release date yet.

The Android 2.3 based Pantech Pocket comes with 4-inch (800 x 600) touchscreen, single core processor, 5-megapixel camera, 600MB onboard storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and microSD card slot. It measures 114.7mm x 78mm x 11.3mm and weighs 4.66 oz. No word on pricing or launch date.

The last Android handset that AT&T announced today is AT&T Avail from ZTE. The handset comes with 3.5-inch touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, video recording, 512MB ROM, 512MB RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth and microSD card slot. No word on pricing and launch date for this handset also. However AT&T says all the handsets will be available in time for holiday season, which would mean by mid November.
