The first thing that comes to ones mind when talking about Solid State Drives (SSD) is 1GB to $5 price ratio. Basically a 64GB SSD can cost anywhere from $300 to $1,000. Super Talent Technology wants to change that and is launching a pair of new affordable SATA II SSDs. The new SSDs will cut the price ratio in half bring down per GB cost to only $2.30. The Super Talent’s new MasterDrive LX SSDs will be available in 64GB and 128GB capacities for $179 and $300 respectively.
The MasterDrive LX is built using MLC NAND flash chips and uses SATA-II interface with 3Gbps data transfer speed, making them perfectly ideal for interchanging with hard disk drives. The SSDs will have sequential read speed of 100 MB/s and sequential write speeds of 40MB/s. To improve the reliability and lifespan of these SSDs, Super Talent has integrated ECC, wear leveling and bad bit management functions. Both the models will ship in first week of October and come with one-year warranty.
