Hasselblad cameras are known for their very high megapixel count and the company has introduced two new H System of medium format cameras H4D-60 and H4D-50 with 60-megapixel and 50-megapixel sensor respectively. The new cameras feature ‘True Focus’ autofocus system that can measure the movement of the camera when recomposing after focusing to ensure that focus remains on the target.

“We are thrilled to be able to announce the introduction of the H4D,” says Christian Poulsen, CEO of Hasselblad. “This step represents the natural evolution of our H System and of our photographic strategy in general. As part of our effort to inspire 35mm photographers to step up to the quality found in high-end DSLRs, the H4D series is built upon the successful H3D platform and features our revolutionary True Focus technology. The H4D also comes bundled with our new Phocus 2.0 imaging software.”

The HasselBlad H4D-60 will ship in January 2010 for Euro 28,995 ($42,325) and the H4D-50 that will replace the H3DII-50 will ship in Q1 2010 for Euro 19,995 ($29,180). H3DII-50 cameras purchased between now and Q1 2010 will be upgraded to the H4D-50 free of charge.
