Apple updated iPod touch lineup earlier this month. Apple surprised everyone by not adding camera to the new iPod touch models, even though the company added video camera to lower-end iPod nano. The 8GB iPod touch model is exactly same as previous generation 8GB touch (and so the previous reviews apply to 8GB model). However, the 32GB and 64GB models get updated hardware with faster processor and better 3D graphics chip. The 32GB and 64GB iPod touch models - is up to 50 percent faster than the previous generation iPod touch and they support OpenGL ES Version 2.0 for improved graphics performance. The 32GB model is priced $299 and the 64GB model is priced $399.

Most reviewers agree that Apple’s iPod touch is the best media player in the market today and by updating hardware Apple has made the device more powerful. CNET’s Donald Bell says “The third generation of Apple’s iPod touch is still the king of the hill when it comes to portable, WiFi wielding media players. New additions such as Voice Control, graphics enhancements, improved accessibility, higher capacity, and a faster processor help to refine an already excellent product.”
