Google Releases Chrome 3 with Performance ImprovementsSubmitted by lalit on September 16, 2009 - 4:59pm.
Google has released Chrome 3 – the third major update of Chrome browser that Google launched just one year back. Google says the new release comes hot on the heels of 51 developer, 21 beta and 15 stable updates and 3,505 bugfixes in the past year. In Chrome 3, Google didn’t add many new features, but the company focused on speed improvements for the browser as well as a fresh redesign of some of its features. Google says that Javascript performance is 150 percent faster than the very first beta and is 25 percent faster that most recent stable release (Chrome 2). We have added tables above showing Javescript performance. Google has redesigned the Tab page so that it’s easy to use and easily customizable. On the Tab page, you can rearrange thumbnails of most visited website by simply clicking and dragging, and you can pin thumbnails to a spot. Both the features are almost identical to what Apple’s Safari offers. However, Google has added option of hiding parts of the page that you don’t want to see or even opting for a simple list view of all your most visited websites. Google has improved the Omnibox by optimizing the presentation of the drop-down menu and by adding little icons to help you distinguish between suggested sites, searches, bookmarks and sites from your browsing history. Google has added support for HTML5 capabilities like in browser video and audio playback without a plug-in. The Chrome 3 also supports Themes that allow you to deck out your browser with colors, patterns and images. You can change the theme of your browser by visiting the Themes gallery.
