The Wall Street Journal is reporting that T-Mobile’s phone based on Google Android software is coming out on schedule, even though other wireless companies working with Android have delayed their launch. The phone is manufactured by HTC and has been approved by FCC. T-Mobile is expected to announce the phone on September 23 and will ship the device by end of October 2008. There is no information available about the phone’s pricing, but we are sure it will be less the $199 with two-year contract.
Both T-Mobile and HTC expects the sales of the new device to be higher than analysts’ estimates. Most analysts have put the number around 300,000 to 500,000, but HTC expects to ship 600,000 to 700,000 units this year, of the smartphone, dubbed the Dream. Google Android based phone is one of the three most anticipated mobile phones this fall, along with BlackBerry Thunder/Storm and Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1. All three phones are aiming to slowdown iPhones march in the smart phone market. How successful these phones will be only time will tell.
