Ricoh today announced GR Digital IV compact camera, the successor to the GR Digital III, which offered a 28mm/F1.9 GR Lens, GR Engine III and high sensitivity CCD sensor. The new GR Digital IV is still built around 10-megapixel 1/1.7” CCD sensor and same lens, but adds a new image engine and a refined optical filter that exceeds the GR Digital III and achieves the highest level of image quality in the history of the GR series, according to Ricoh. Other features on the GR Digital IV are Hybrid AF system, Image-sensor-shift image stabilization, external CMOS Autofocus (AF) sensor, 3-inch LCD, electronics level detection and Dynamic Range compensation mode. The GR Digital IV will come in black color and a limited edition white models will also ship at launch (only 10,000 white units). No word yet on price and release date.
