Archos Unveils Android Based Internet Tablet Archos 5

Archos today unveiled the much rumored Archos 5 Google Android based Internet tablet with 4.8-inch touchscreen. The tablet uses Archos’ developed interface for media playback, but takes advantage of Android for web browsing and third party application support. Archos 5 features ARM Cortex-A8 processor that is powerful enough to support 720p video output via optional HDMI dock for HDTV.

Other features on the Internet tablet include WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM transmitter / receiver and support for various audio / video codec. The Archos 5 will be available in two sizes based on type of storage you select. The flash memory based Archos 5 will be 0.4-inch thick and come in 8GB for $250, 16GB for $300 and 32GB for $380.
