Mobile Today is reporting that Apple and O2 are selling 27,000 iPhone per week, after a high of 50,000 per week in its first two weeks on sale. The number would give iPhone 4-6% market share of complete handset market not just smartphone market in UK.
To maintain high sales of the iPhone in run-up to Christmas, Apple and O2 will sell iPhone with prepay plans. O2 has announced £350 price tag for 8GB model and £400 for 16GB models along with prepay service. Mobile Today’s source added, “Prepay will undoubtedly give it a lift, but how much is difficult to say in the Christmas run-up.”
If prepay service for iPhone increases an already robust iPhone sales, Apple could capture around 10% of handset market for this Christmas shopping season in UK. This would result in Apple and O2 selling more than half million iPhone 3Gs in UK alone by end of this year.
