Samsung today introduced the Series 7 Slate PC, a lightweight slate computer with full PC capabilities running Windows 7. According to Samsung, Series 7 Slate PC offers all of the features of a full-sized laptop in an extremely portable package, providing highly mobile users with the computing power they need for maximum productivity anywhere they go.

"The Samsung Series 7 Slate PC was designed for on-the-go users who need a slim, lightweight computer but can't afford to sacrifice true PC functionality," said Scott Ledterman, director of mobile PC marketing at Samsung Enterprise Business Division. "Whether you're using it for work or play, the Series 7 Slate revolutionizes portable computing by providing the latest and greatest PC features without weighing you down."

Samsung Series 7 Slate PC will come with 1.6GHz Core i5 processor 2467M, 11.6-inch (1366 x 768) touchscreen, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 64GB or 128GB storage, Intel HD Graphics 3000, WiFi and Bluetooth. The slate will weigh 2.06 lbs and offer up to 7 hours battery life.

The Samsung Series 7 Slate is scheduled to be available starting October 2nd with price ranging from $1,099 to $1,349 depending on storage and Windows 7 version.

Joanna Stern of This is my next wrote in her hands-on impression of the Series 7 Slate PC “Based on my first impressions, the Series 7 Slate may be the best Windows 7 tablet ever made — it’s fast, the pen experience is smooth, and the hardware is thin and well-built. However, I’m not sure it matters. While the product manager did tell us that it would be upgradeable to Windows 8, there’s a very very small market for this type of device and at $1,099 it’s not going to be an easy sell (an iPad and netbook can be had for less!).” You can check out her hands-on video below.
