Samsung today officially announced the much rumored LTE versions of its Galaxy S II smartphone and Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablet. Both the devices will now work with LTE / WCDMA / GSM networks around the world. "With the introduction of GALAXY S II LTE and GALAXY Tab 8.9 LTE, we will take the capabilities of these devices to a whole new level. LTE redefines the user experience made possible by these devices and opens entirely new possibilities in terms of content viewing, sharing, quality and connectivity," said JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung's Mobile Communications Business. "This is a milestone in our commitment to lead the charge in 4G mobile telephony around the world, both in terms of back-end network solutions for service providers and the development of powerful consumer handsets.” Along with the LTE boost, the Galaxy S II LTE smartphone also get faster 1.5GHz dual core processor, superior 3D graphics and longer battery life with 1850mAh battery. The Android 2.3 handset features 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display, 8-megapixel camera, HD video recording and WiFi with 8 devices HotSpot support. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE comes with 8.9-inch 1280 x 800 resolution touchscreen, 1.5GHz processor and Samsung’s TouchWiz interface. The tablet is just 8.6mm (0.33-inch) thick and weighs only 455g (1lbs). Samsung didn’t give any information about launch date or pricing for both the devices, but we should hear more about the devices at IFA 2011 on September 1st when Samsung formally showcases the new devices.
