Cult of Mac is reporting that T-mobile USA is very close to getting iPhone this fall before Verizon. The website wrote:

T-Mobile USA is very close to getting the iPhone in the fall, ending Apple’s exclusive relationship with AT&T, according to a highly placed source at the wireless company.
Talks between Apple and T-Mobile are at an advanced stage, our source says, and it’s 80 percent likely that the iPhone will be coming to T-Mobile in Q3.
The source works at T-Mobile but asked not to be quoted directly and to remain anonymous because they aren’t authorized to talk to the press.

Bringing iPhone to T-Mobile will be easier for Apple than bring it to Verizon, as T-Mobile uses GSM networks. T-Mobile’s GSM/EDGE network will work with the iPhone, but UMTS/HSPA might be a problem as iPhone support 850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz, while T-Mobile uses 1700, 2100MHz for 3G service. However, it has been rumored that iPhone 4 is using a chip that support five frequencies including 1700MHz for 3G network, which is not listed on Apple’s website.

It will be interesting to see which network gets the iPhone first. As T-Mobile iPhone will be easier to make, whereas Verizon will increase the potential iPhone market by three times.
