Verizon Talks About Palm Pre, BlackBerry Storm 2, Android and LTE NetworkSubmitted by lalit on May 28, 2009 - 8:27pm.
Verizon’s CEO Lowell McAdam was in a chatty mode today, first he said the company plans to start selling Palm Pre and BlackBerry Storm 2 in about six months. And then later today he talked about Android devices and rolling out of LTE network in 210 market by 2012. The remarks about Pre and Storm came up during a webcast. McAdam said, “Over the next six months or so you will see devices like Palm Pre and a Second generation Storm”. Sprint will be the exclusive carrier of Palm Pre when it is launched next month. Shares of Sprint Nextel Corp fell 3 percent after the comments, as it is very like that this announcement will drop the number of customers switching from Verizon to Sprint for Palm Pre. McAdam also said that Verizon will start carrying Android devices made by Motorola later this year or early next year. When talking about LTE network rollout he said that Verizon will start with handful of markets in 2010 and will expand it to 210 markets in less than two year by 2012. According to McAdam, Verizon will start offering “Nationwide” LTE coverage in 2012.
