Sony updated their S series and F series laptops with second generation Intel Core i7 processors and new graphics cards from AMD and NVIDIA. The top-of-the-line S series laptop gets 2.7GHz dual core Intel Core i7 processor, 1GB AMD Radeon HD 6630 hybrid graphics, 13.3-inch 1366 x 768 display, backlit keyboard, WiFi, Bluetooth and the usual set of ports. Options include higher resolution (1,600 x 900) display, up to 8GB memory, Blu-ray drive, and external sheet battery. The base model with Core i5 processor has a starting price of $999, but if you want the Core i7 system prices start at $1,499 and go all the way up to $2,499 depending on configuration. The new Vaio S Series laptops are available for pre-order today on Sony’s website. The desktop replacement F series gets 2.0GHz Core i7 Quad Core processor, 16.4-inch (1920 x 1080) display, NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M or 520M graphics, up to 750GB hard drive, backlit keyboard, HD webcam, up to 8GB memory, WiFi, Bluetooth and the usual set of ports. Options available are 3D LCD screen, Blu-ray drive and large capacity battery. The F series laptops are also available for pre-order on Sony’s website for a starting price of $1,100. At this price point the F series is one of the cheapest laptop featuring Intel’s second generation Core i7 quad core processor and they come with full HD 1080p display.
