Apple Selling 200,000 iPads Per Week in US

RBC Capital Market analyst Mike Abramsky believes that Apple is selling over 200,000 iPads per week in US, which is almost double the number of Macs Apple sells in US per week. Abramsky also added that he believes Apple has received over 600,000 preorder for iPad in the nine countries where they will start shipping the iPad on May 28th.

Abramsky’s estimates were based on retail store check in mid-May, where he found widespread iPad stockouts at Apple retail and Best Buy stores. He wrote in his note to investors “More than 25 percent of Apple stores have only selected WiFi iPads (3G sold out) and are allocating to waiting lists.” Abramsky believes Apple will sell 8 million iPads in 2010 and predicts that iPad will cause 25 percent cannibalization on Mac sales.

Mike’s predication about Mac sales cannibalization are actually very wrong because NPD group has reported that in April Mac sales grew by 33 percent over previous year. Indicating that even though iPads are selling like hot cakes, Mac sales are also increasing.
