Digitimes is reporting that Foxconn plans to ship 24 million units of fourth generation iPhone this year with shipments starting in June. Foxconn has been the manufacturing partner with Apple for iPhone since the original iPhone was launched in 2007. Digitimes’ analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Foxconn will ship 4.5 million units by end of June for fourth gen iPhone launch and rest 19.5 million units will ship in Q3 and Q4 this year.

The new iPhone will use IPS LCD panels like the iPad for better color reproduction and wider viewing angles. The 960 x 640 resolution screen will also use FFS (fringe-field switching) technology for better visibility in sunlight. According to Digitimes analyst, Apple is using FFS technology to improve the handset’s e-book reading capabilities and promote iBookStore in the handset.

The new LCD panel assembly is 33 percent thinner than in previous iPhone versions, allowing more space for bigger battery. Simplo Technology and Dynapack International Technology will supply the new battery pack for the iPhone. The 960 x 640 resolution screen will make the new iPhone – handset with highest resolution screen on the market, as the highest resolution screen available today on smartphone has 854 x 480 resolution.

The fourth generation will use Apple’s A4 processor based on ARM Cortex A8 design and will feature 512MB memory module from Samsung as contrary to rumored 256MB memory. Higher memory will allow fourth generation iPhone to take advantage of multitasking capabilities offered by iPhone OS 4.0.

Apple will introduce the next gen iPhone on 7th June during WWDC keynote and should start shipping the handset before end of June. We have added a new video below showing the new iPhone more closely.
