Various blogs are reporting that many Apple Stores are sold out of iPad 3G, which was launched last Friday and has been selling like hot cakes. Appleinsider contacted 10 Apple Stores across US and all were sold out of the 3G capable iPad model. Also, Bloomberg contacted 19 Apple Stores in 13 US cities including four stores in New York City, three in San Francisco and two in Los Angeles, they were all sold out of iPad 3G models.

“Demand continuous to exceed supply,” Natalie Kerris, a spokeswoman for Apple told Bloomberg. “We’re working hard to provide iPads to additional customers.”

When we contacted 10 Apple Stores in New York state area, six stores said they were sold out of all three models of the iPad 3G, four stores had at least one iPad 3G model available and none of the stores had all three iPad 3G models. All the stores we contacted said that they would receive more iPad 3G units over the weekend.

Apple Stores have started asking customers who want iPad 3G to sign up for “Notify Me” service that will email the customers as soon as the iPad 3Gs are in stock at the given store. The store will then hold the iPad for 24 hours for that customer. On Apple’s online store there is a wait time of 5-7 days for both the iPad WiFi and 3G models.
