Apple updated the MacBook Pros in February and iMac few days back with new Sandy Bridge processors and Thunderbolt port. And now one of the analysts Shaw Wu is stating the obvious “Apple plans to refresh the rest of its Mac lineup soon”. Wu says that his check with supply chain sources indicate that the MacBook, MacBook Air, Mac mini and Mac Pro refreshes are due in coming months.

Apple normally updates the white MacBook before start of school season during summer, so there is no surprise there. Also the other systems excluding MacBook Air, which was released in October, have been on the market for about one year. Apple normally refreshes Macs within 10-12 month.

Now we know for sure Apple will at least update MacBook, Mac mini and Mac Pro this summer. So what should we expect? The white MacBook and Mac mini usually follows the lower end 13-inch MacBook Pro when it comes to hardware configuration. Hence we should get 2.3GHz dual core Core i5 processor, Intel HD graphics, 320GB hard drive, 2GB or 4GB RAM and Thunderbolt port. Mac mini will also have a 2.7GHz Core i7 server option. As for Mac Pros, they will get the latest Xeon processor from Intel, along with AMD Radeon 6000 series graphics and Thunderbolt ports.

What about the MacBook Air, Apple started shipping the new MacBook Air about eight months ago, so we don’t think we will see a update in coming 4-6 weeks. Unless, Intel gives Apple a special deal on low voltage Core i7 processors. We should get more information about upcoming Mac hardware updates by WWDC in June.
