Gizmodo Dissects Next Gen iPhone

Yesterday, Gizmodo posted detailed external preview of the next gen iPhone that was found in a bar in Redwood City camouflaged to look like and iPhone 3GS. Today the website has dissected the next gen iPhone and posted photos and details about the internals of the iPhone. The dissection confirms that the phone is from Apple, as Apple is written prominently in three separate places inside the case.

The internal components are packed very tightly with about 50 percent of space taken by the battery. The logic board on the new phone is 1/3 the size of iPhone 3GS and Apple has shrunk down parts drastically to make the phone thinner. Gizmodo wasn’t about to confirm what processor the phone uses as the main logic board was encased in metal all around. Gizmodo says two lessons can be learned by disassemble:

First is that everything fits in here like an intricately-designed jigsaw puzzle. This is definitely laid out like a final product. Second, Apple really, really shrunk down their parts to make this phone thinner. It might weigh 3 grams more than the 3GS, but remember, the battery is 19% larger than before. Everything else is way reduced to fit the smaller case.
