Intel has introduced new logos and rating system for its consumer oriented processor lineup. The new logo shows die accent on upper right hand corner with brand name (e.g., Core, Centrino) on lower right corner with modifier (e.g., i7, 2) in the center. The new logos are designed to differentiate various processor brands easily.

Intel has also launched a new star based rating system that ranges from one to five stars. One star means lowest performance whereas five star means best performance in class. Again the new rating system is designed to simplify processor selection for consumers.

“Intel is in the process of moving to a pretty aggressive brand simplification plan,” said Intel’s spokesman Bill Calder. “When we launched Core i7, we said we’re moving to a single primary client brand, which is Core. We’re are moving in that direction.”

Intel has posted a star rating chart on its website for desktop and laptop processor lineup. The chart is an excellent guide to refer when you are buying a new computer as it clearly shows relative performance of various Intel processor series.
