Palm Announces Early Access Program for webOS DevelopersSubmitted by lalit on April 2, 2009 - 9:08am.
Palm announced plans to expand access to its webOS Mojo SDK, which was initially available to only a select few partners. Palm is calling it early access program for developers interested in creating applications for the Palm webOS. This program will give developers an opportunity to test drive and provide feedback on Palm Mojo SDK prior to its public release. If you are interested in participating in the early access program you have to complete an application on Palm’s developer website. Only a small number of developers will be admitted initially and Palm would gradually increase the size of the program as the tools mature. The program will continue until the SDK is officially released to the public, at which point any developer will be free to download the SDK. Palm didn’t announce the date for official release of the SDK. Along with the SDK, Palm also announced integrated cloud services and Palm OS emulator for Pre. The integrated cloud services, which Palm calls Mojo Messaging Service, will give developers a standardized publish / subscribe system to allow data to be bounced from the cloud to the devices. It is Palm’s version of Push service that Apple will offer its iPhone developers. Palm OS emulator is developed by Motion Apps and it will bring PalmOS apps to Pre. The emulator will be called Classic and compared to Treo 700p, PalmOS apps will run approximately twice as fast on Classic according to Motion Apps. Still no information about Palm Pre release date or pricing. However, You can get more information or apply for early access program on Palm’s developer website.
